Spring is in the air here in the Treasure Valley, and there's no better time to refresh your home with a good old-fashioned spring cleaning! Living in Eagle, my family and I truly appreciate the beauty and charm of our community, and a clean home only enhances that experience. Whether you’re a long-time Idahoan or new to the area, these spring cleaning tips will help you get your home in tip-top shape while embracing all that makes Idaho special.

At my house, spring cleaning is a family affair! My son, Silas (9), loves any excuse to use a pressure washer—he calls it "power blasting," and honestly, he does a pretty great job. My daughter, Penny (6), is more of a "super organizer" and takes charge of sorting toys and donating the ones she no longer plays with. It’s amazing how much they love getting involved (especially if there's a reward of ice cream afterward!).

Window Cleaning Made Easy 🏡✨

For those with two-story homes, cleaning those upstairs windows can be a challenge. Luckily, I now own a one-story home, but for my friends with taller homes, I always recommend Aaron at "Pane-in-the-Glass" Window Cleaning. He's a lifesaver! And for those tackling windows on their own, Norwex cleaning cloths are a game-changer—no Windex needed!

Gutters & Outdoor Maintenance 🌿🛠️

Spring cleaning isn't just about windows. It's time to break out the dusters and pressure washers, rake out those garden beds, and clear out the gutters. With Idaho’s unpredictable spring weather—sunny one day and rainy the next—clogged gutters can quickly lead to water damage. A little preventative maintenance now can save you a major headache later!

Sprinkler System Check 🚿🌱

Speaking of weather, if you’re new to Idaho, spring is also the time to inspect and repair your irrigation system. Many Treasure Valley homes rely on pressurized irrigation, which typically gets turned on in April. Before then, it’s smart to check for leaks, clean out sprinkler heads, and adjust watering schedules to keep your lawn looking lush without overusing water.

Get Ready for Idaho Adventures! 🏕️🎣

If you love the great outdoors like most Idahoans, now’s also the perfect time to clean and prep your gear. Wash those hiking boots, air out the camping tents, and organize fishing tackle boxes. For those with RVs or boats, a deep clean and maintenance check will get you ready for summer adventures in McCall, Cascade, or Lucky Peak.

Organizing the Garage 🚗🔧

And let’s not forget the garage—arguably the most neglected part of any home! Spring is the ideal time to sort through outdoor gear, organize tools, and sweep out the winter grime. If you need extra motivation, the City of Boise and many surrounding areas host spring clean-up events where you can drop off large unwanted items for free.

Declutter & Donate 🏠❤️

For those of you thinking about moving to or within Idaho this spring, a thorough decluttering can make packing (or staging your home) much easier. If you're looking for donation spots, Idaho Youth Ranch and St. Vincent de Paul are always great options, and some will even pick up larger furniture donations.
